Hope You Fall Festival

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last Wednesday, Marlin decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and break away for an afternoon of fall-themed celebration. Nothing says fall like pumpkin beer (which the interns didn’t buy nearly enough of), bonfires, soulful music and great barbeque. Grill master Matt served up some delicious beef and beans while Next of Kin, featuring Paul Speed, Chad Harris and a special guest appearance from Trevor Gies, serenaded the group. The wind may or may not have helped us drive some shag balls into the distance, but we won’t complain. Except for Odin—who got hit in the head by Jared’s rogue golf ball. There was no better way to end the night than by sitting around the fire and roasting s’mores. For those of you who couldn’t get out to dance around in the falling leaves, we have pictures for your bitter viewing pleasure below.

What happens when you leave out a birthday cake with moveable letters too early in the day

(For the record, the birthday boy was the vandal.)

Searching for the secret family recipe.

Last week a few of us headed down to Knoxville, Tennessee to present some work and give some of the new folks on the team a chance to learn everything there is to know about Bush’s Best® Beans. The trip included a visit to the corporate offices, the factory and the Bush’s Café & Museum.

We had a blast. A great recap for the veterans on the team, and educational for the rookies, we covered a range of subjects including their current manufacturing techniques, their incredibly high standards for quality and the rich history that has served as the foundation for it all. One observation we made was that most everyone within the company was on a first-name basis. While Bush’s has grown significantly since 1906, they all still treat one another like family.

It’s an honor to work for a brand that takes pride in both their people and their products. If you get a chance, stop by the Bush’s Café & Museum for yourself. It’s open to the public and the homemade pinto bean pie is outstanding. If you’re lucky, you might even have a chance to talk to Duke. Good luck with that. We’re all dog lovers and we couldn’t get a single word out of him.

Marlin Embraces New Subculture

There’s been an exciting subculture growing at Marlin for a while and it’s recently attracted so much attention that we decided it deserved a promotional video and a logo exploration. Now, we proudly introduce to you Marlin’s very own Pipe Club. Check out the video and logo evolution below.

We borrowed Mumford & Sons “After the Storm” for this video. And we’ll be happy to give it back if Mumford or sons so desires.

Designed by the marvelous Brian Collins.

There are currently five Marlin Pipe Club members. James brings the fire, Brian brings the stamina (and wisdom), Adam brings the good looks, Q usually forgets to bring anything, and Jared brings the filthy, filthy jokes.

Club Requirements:

A Pipe*

*Unless you’re Q or Brian.

Now accepting applications.
